Your 5 Steps to a Heavy Vehicle Drivers Licence |
Step 1 |
Obtain a pass in the DRIVER KNOWLEDGE TEST at your Motor Registry You may practice this at home by searching RTA Driver Knowledge Test, Click on Driver Knowledge Test on the left side, follow the prompts. Once ready, book the test with the RMS on 132213. Payment may be required at time of booking. |
Step 2 |
After successfully completing the DKT above, Purchase CBA Logbooks from your Motor Registry. Thoroughly read "A Guide To Competency Based Training" as this contains the guidelines of your training and other important information. You are now ready to start your training so phone '? for available training times on 0413 605 432. On the first day we need only 2 hours of training |
Step 3 |
Undergo the required training and assessment from Frank's Big Truck Training. |
Step 4 |
Return the signed off logbook to the Motor Registry, pay a small fee and a new license will be issued. Remember a new photo will be taken! |
Step 5 |
Congratulations and enjoy the privileges of your license Safely! |

Hints to reduce your time under instruction |

Know your road rules!........very important....... Consider buying and studying the Heavy Vehicle Driver Handbook (approx $10) OR download it from the RTA / RMS website. |

Be on time for your lesson. |

Wear soft soled shoes so you can 'feel' the vehicle controls. Runners are good. |
4.. |
Consider buying (and studying)the 'Load Restraint Guide', available at your Motor Registry for approx $10. Remember load restraint is part of your licence requirements. |

If ENGLISH is not your first language, you MUST be able to communicate with your instructor on the subject of driving.
